Rachel Carson Trail 50th Birthday Hike, 7.3 miles

Join us as we celebrate the 50th birthday of the Rachel Carson Trail! We are recreating the first scheduled hike on the completed trail, which took place on Sunday, March 9, 1975 from North Park to Dorseyville.

We'll meet at the Hartwood Mansion (Hartwood Acres Park) parking area at 9:30 AM and shuttle to the Harmar Shelter (North Park) parking area where our hike will begin.

• You don't need to notify the hike leader that you plan to attend. Simply show up on time.
• Please carry water (more if the temperature will be warm) and some energy snacks (e.g. Powerbar).
• If it's hunting season, please wear safety orange.
• We will meet at the hike end point and carpool to the start point, leaving a sufficient number of cars behind to carry people back to the start when the hike is over.
• Although dogs are wonderful, please don't bring them on this hike.
• The minimum unaccompanied age is 12.
• Plan for hike overhead time including sign-in, announcements, car shuttling, and so forth.
• The hike is free and open to everyone.
