Join us as we work on this beautiful, shady, streamside section of the Rachel Carson Trail. We'll be learning about the ecology of the area and removing invasive plants with Zach Lyons-Weiler.

Zach is a recent Pitt graduate and Hampton High School alum who is starting his PhD in Paleontology at the University of Michigan. At Pitt, he studied ecology and evolution and has had a lifelong interest in the ecology and natural history of Crouse Run. Prior to leading the invasive cleanup, Zach will give a few opening words on the natural and human history of Crouse Run as well as current threats to the valuable ecosystem.

This is a kid friendly, relaxed, fun morning. (Children under 14 must be with a parent or guardian.)

Dress for the day with appropriate shoes and your own work gloves. Long pants suggested. Bring water and snacks for your own needs. Tools will be provided, but you may bring your own loppers, trimmers, hand saw, etc. if you like.

Volunteers can park in the small lot on Sample Road and at the Sample Road/Royal View Drive intersection here. This is a short walk away from the work site.

In case of last minute cancellation, be sure to check this event listing on our website before heading out.
