Harmony Trail Volunteer Day

Join a volunteer crew and help improve the trail!

Join a fun team of volunteers for an assortment of work on the Harmony Trail, including the following:

  • Knock down the trees along the beginning of the trail that were sprayed 3 years ago but have not fallen as expected.  These are small, weak trees that may come down with a hard push.  We will have handsaws and loppers available.
  • If we can get a donation of gravel, we will patch holes in the parking lot and the trail.
  • Remove the post (cemented into ground) that used to hold the bag dispenser and garbage can for the dog walkers.
  • Pull debris from the stream, weather permitting (bring boots or waders to go in the stream)
  • Moving boards, that were previously pulled from the stream, to below the trailhead sign
  • Plant a flat of seedlings donated by The Audubon Society
  • Collect walnuts and plant them on the outskirts of the trail
  • Remove invasive plants
  • Plant a flat of seedlings donated by The Audubon Society

Please dress appropriately for the activity.  There are ticks in the area.  Most of the work will be dirty.  We recommend long pants, hard shoes, long sleeve shirts and work gloves.

There is no need to sign up but be on time.  We will describe the tasks and break up into groups starting at 9:00AM.
