Describe your background, interests, and vocation.

The majority of my professional life was in the area of I.T., although I earned a degree in English from the University of Pittsburgh. I spent ten years at BNY Mellon as a Program Manager (and VP) in the Technology Sector, managing network and infrastructure migrations. The amount of time I spent in our New York and London offices was not conducive to raising a child.  When my maternity leave ended, I decided against returning to my position at BNY Mellon. Prior to that, I worked as a software consultant.  I am a results-driven, competitive person by nature; I eventually found myself with a kind of “work void.”  I learned to use running (and racing) to satisfy my competitive edge and began to channel some of my professional skills into volunteer work at various nonprofits, one of which is Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy. 

Why would you like to be on the RCTC Board?

I have genuine admiration for the goals and values of the Conservancy. I have enjoyed serving on the board for the past three years. During this time, my respect for trail maintenance and the value of our trail system has grown exponentially. I am honored to represent the Conservancy and to serve in advancing  its mission. 

What makes you a good addition to the RCTC Board?

I am a fierce advocate for the trail-running community. With a penchant for marketing and communications, I have guided the Conservancy to a more than 300% increase in its social media following in just three years.  I have contributed to the growth of the Conservancy’s Baker Trail UltraChallenge, leveraging ties to the North Park Trail Runners, a nonprofit on which I currently serve as board president. When I'm not participating in the Conservancy's annual events, I enjoy volunteering at them. Last but not least, contributing content, especially news articles, to the Conservancy's website is a great source of pleasure for me.
