Kids Trail Sprint & Hike

A kids-oriented activity on the Rachel Carson Trail on Black Friday

The North Park Trail Runners and Rachel Carson Trails Conservancy are co-hosting the second annual family-friendly trail sprint on the day after Thanksgiving. Skip the Black Friday madness and join us outside for some trail fun! We'll meet at the Orchard/Ling Pavilions in Hampton Community Park and then make our way as a group to the Rachel Carson Trail for a fun two-mile hike/sprint. Typically, the kids run in bursts, followed by walking and often stopping for rests. It's all good, and we'll encourage the children to explore their surroundings and get in touch with nature. Get muddy, if possible. This isn't a race; speed is not rewarded on this day. The ability to suppress whining or complaining will be recognized with a tasty cookie (or two) at the conclusion.

Also, there's a huge playground nearby! Kids are encouraged to stick around and play after the hike.

Bring water to drink and dress in layers. If you plan to do some running, you can shed a layer or two when you get hot.

This event is FREE and there's no registration; simply show up!
